  • Danielle Cherry (She/Her)

    Chair

    Danielle is a passionate and active contributor to organizations that support and defend vulnerable communities, and the key issues impacting them. As board member, Danielle is taking her dedication to reproductive rights, universal health access and empowering youth to fuel Dream’s mission around the Bay Area and beyond. Danielle provides Marketing, Advertising and Media expertise to support the Dream brand, leveraging her extensive career and leadership roles within global media organizations and Fortune 500 CPG and Tech companies.

  • Richard Raya (He/Him)

    Secretary

    Richard is committed to a national racial justice strategy led by community based agencies working in partnership with residents, schools and government. As Chief Strategy Officer, Richard leads the Mission Economic Development Agency's field-building and policy work by sharing tools and lessons from the agency's unique combination of cradle-to-career partnerships, small business lending, and affordable housing development. Richard is also a Board Member for SPUR, co-chair of the African American Latino Action Alliance, Harvard Senior Fellow in the Graduate School of Education, and a member of the Executive Committee for End Child Poverty in California. Richard has a B.A. and Master’s in Public Policy from UC Berkeley. He’s accompanied on this journey by his geographer wife, five sons, and their rescue pit bull.

  • Gregory Tarver Jr., PhD. (He/Him)

    Director

    Dr. Tarver has been devoted to urban greening and environmental science education for youth and young adults for the past 25 years. He has worked in academia, the nonprofit sector, and municipal government with a focus on engaging underserved and under-resourced communities in the social, environmental, and economic improvement in the Oakland community since 2005. He is a specialist in training and career development programming for youth and adults, and works in this capacity as the Safety & Training Manager for the City of Oakland Public Works Department. In his personal life, Dr. Tarver teaches meditation, spends time with his family and outdoors in nature, and travels internationally.

  • Kristen Harvey, MD MPH (She/Her)

    Director

    Kristen Harvey MD MPH is a board-certified family physician with over 20 years of experience in the field, currently residing in the Bay Area. She completed her medical school and residency at Weill Cornell Medical College and Montefiore Hospital in New York City, respectively. Throughout her career, she has primarily focused on addressing healthcare accessibility in various urban and rural communities. Dr. Harvey has a special interest in adolescent and young adult health, emphasizing prevention, screening, and the utilization of technology to enhance care.

  • Rena Davis (She/Her)

    Director

    Rena Davis is a native of the Bay Area who has lived in the East Bay communities of Oakland, Pinole, and Richmond. Rena attended Howard University and graduated from UC Santa Cruz and the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law. A former staffer for Senator Boxer, Rena has led policy teams in academia, nonprofit, and most recently technology. She is Google’s Head of State Government Affairs and Public Policy for California and serves on the Board of the CalAsian Chamber and Jewish Family & Community Services, East Bay. Rena is enjoys reading, gardening, and hiking with her corgi-mix and golden retriever.

  • Aisha Mays, MD (She/Her)

    President

    Bay Area native, Dr. Aisha Mays, is a Family Physician who focuses on Adolescent Medicine. She is the CEO and Founder of the Dream Youth Clinics in Oakland, California and a Clinical Researcher with the UCSF Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Dr. Mays is an innovative adolescent healthcare leader and has special clinical, teaching, and research expertise on youth affected by sex trafficking and reproductive justice for young mothers. Dr. Mays has cared for youth in Oakland for over 15 years, including serving as the Medical Director of the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center health clinic, physician within the Oakland Unified School District School Based Health Centers, and as the Director of the San Francisco Public Health Department’s Community Health Programs For Youth. She has served on the Board of Directors for several local youth serving organizations and is currently a Steering Committee Member of the Alameda County United Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, the Coordinated Support for Sex Trafficked Youth Roundtable, and a Member of the City of Oakland Mayor’s Advisory Council on Human Trafficking.
